Abstract

Sumanto. NIM : 14PCS01645. Correlative Study Between The Ability of Writing Paragraph And The Achievement-motivation With The Skill of Report Writing Upon the 9th Students of Junior Secondary School I Giritontro, Even Semester, Academic Year 2016/2017. Thesis. Language Education Study Program, Graduate Programme, Widya Dharma University Klaten, 2016. This study aims at finding : (1) Whether there is a correlation between the ability of writing paragraph with the skill in report-writing; (2) Whether there is a correlation between the achievement-motif with the skill in report-writing; (3) Whether there is a correlation between the ability of writing paragraph and the achievement-motif along with the skill of report-writing. The research was condveted to Students of Junior Secondary School I Giritontro, March 2016 – September 2016. The method used was survey method with correlational technique. The population of this study is 30 students of the 9th. The instruments used for data-collection are test-sheet on writing a report, writing paragraph and the quetionaire on the achievement-motivation. To analyze the data, this study uses the technique of regressive statistics and correlation (both simple and multiple). The result of the analysis show that : (1) There is a positive correlation between the ability of writing paragraph with the skill in report-writing (ry.1 = 0,482 the real level α = 0,05 dengan N = 30 rt = 0,361; (2) There is a positive correlation between the achievement-motivation with the skill of report-writing (ry.2 = 0,542 the real level α = 0,05 with N = 30 rt = 0,361); (3) There is a positive correlation between the ability of writing paragraph and the achievement-motif along eith the skill of writing a report (Ry.12 = 0,60 the real level α = 0,05 with N = 30 rt = 0,36). Seeing the above result, it can be concluded that a single ability of writing paragraph or both with the achievement-motivation gives a significant support for the skill in report writing. This shows that both variablescan be a good predictor for writing a report.
