Abstract
DONY KRISTIYAWAN. NIM. 1111202701. English Education Study Program, The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Dharma University, 2014.Thesis: A Correlation Study between the Students’ Vocabulary Mastery and Writing Skill of the Eighth Year Students of SMP N 3 Bayat in Academic Year 2014/2015. The aim of this study is to verify whether there is a significant correlation between the mastery of vocabulary and writing skill of the eighth year students’ of SMP N 3 Bayat in academic year 2014/ 2015. The researcher takes 45 students as the sample from 179 students of SMP N 3 Bayat. In this study, the researcher uses objective test of eighth year students of SMP N 3 Bayat in academic year 2014/ 2015 with 20 items which are devided into 20 items of vocabulary test and for writing test uses writing method. The instrument are proved to be valid and reliable because the researchers have done try out test to the eighth year students of SMP N 2 Bayat in February, 24th 2015 . After gaining the validity and reliability of the test. The researcher conduct the research which carried out on March, 04th 2015. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed them using the Product-Moment formula. The data are scores of the tests which are used to measure the cofficient of correlation of the vocabulary and writing. The result of analysis is 0.546. The r value which is obtained in this research is greater than the r value in the table of significant. So, the hypothesis stating that there is a significant correlation between the mastery of vocabulary and writing skill of the eighth year students of SMP N 3 Bayat in academic year 2014/ 2015 is accepted. It means that there is a significant correlation between the mastery of vocabulary and writing skill of the eighth year students of SMP N 3 Bayat in academic year 2014/ 2015.
