Abstract

REGA EKO YULIANTO, NO. 1111202687, English Education Study Program, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Dharma University, Klaten, 2016. Thesis: A Descriptive Study on the Mastery of Reading Comprehension of the Seventh Year Students of SMP Muhammadiyah I Klaten in Academic Year of 2015/2016. The problem of the study is: “How is the mastery of reading comprehension of the seventh year students of SMP Muhammadiyah I Klaten in Academic Year of 2015/2016". The aim of the study is to describe the mastery of reading comprehension of the seventh year students of SMP Muhammadiyah I Klaten in Academic Year of 2015/2016. In getting the data, the writer gives a test that consists of 20 items in the form of multiple choice. She takes the seventh year students of SMP Muhammadiyah I Klaten in academic year of 2015/2016 as the population. The number of it is 158 students consisting of six classes consisting of class VII A: 23, class VII B: 23, class VII C: 23, class VII D = 25, class VII E = 32, class VII F = 32. Therefore, she takes 22.78% from them there are 36 students as the sample. In analyzing the data, the writer uses the statistical method in the form of mean. It is intended to know the students’ mastery of the test on the variable. The result of the study shows that the mean is 74.02. It is a fact, that the problem above can be answered. Finally the writer draws the conclusion that the mastery of reading comprehension of the seventh year students of SMP Muhammadiyah I Klaten in academic year of 2015/2016 is good.
