Abstract

The economic demands that are getting bigger but are not matched by an increase in income in the family, this is the reason why women participate in economic activities. . The income obtained when women are married and have children, the income is felt to be less, because the expenses are increasing. To overcome this, women take the opportunity to work abroad, but there are several problems that arise in the current era, namely many cases of violence against Indonesian migrant workers which are caused by language barriers. The purpose of this article is to determine the suitability of mastery of a foreign language to the country of destination for women who are interested in working abroad, the method used is crosstabs and chi square tabulation to determine the effect of mastery of a foreign language with interest, the sample consists of 50 respondents. The results of the study of 50 respondents who are interested 24 and not interested 26 respondents, and do not master a foreign language 32 and master 18 respondents. Chi_sqr shows that there is an effect between two variables 0.048 > 0.05. Keywords: language, interests, abroad
