Abstract

Fadzriyah Agustien, Student’s Number. 1711200017. English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Dharma University Klaten. 2022. Undergraduate Thesis: A Descriptive Study of Character Based Writing Mastery of the Tenth Year Students of SMK Batur Jaya 2 Ceper Klaten in Academic year of 2021/2022. This study mainly focuses on describing the students’ mastery of character based writing of the tenth year students of SMK Batur Jaya 2 Ceper Klaten in academic year of 2021/2022. In getting the data, the writer gives a test to the students about descriptive text. The writer takes 30 students of the tenth year of SMK Batur Jaya 2 Ceper Klaten in Academic year of 2021/2022. Data collection in this study are in the form of writing test and self-assessment’s questionnaire with a 5-Likert scale rubric. In analyzing the data, the writer uses the statiscal method. It is intended to know the students ‘mastery of character based writing. After analyzing the data, the writer can find that the students who get very good category at writing are 22 students or 73%. Then, there are 8 students or 27% who get good category. In addition, the score of students’ writing mastery is 80.8. Meanwhile, the score of students’ character is 80.6. There are 21 students or 70% who get very good category at character. Then, there are 9 students or 30% who get good category at character. Furthermore, the result of students’ mastery which gained from the mean score of students’ writing score and students’ character score is 80.7. It can be concluded that the students’ character based writing mastery of the tenth year students of SMK Batur Jaya 2 Ceper Klaten in Academic year of 2021/2022 is very good.
