Abstract
Veronica Vivi Handayani. NIM : 10PSC01089. The Efforts to Improve the Writing Skills of Conversation Text through Pictures Media and Role Playing Method on The Sixth Year Students of Public Secondary School (SD N) 1 Kuwu, Kradenan, Grobogan Regency, First Semester, Academic Year 2015/2016. Thesis. Language Education Study Programme, Magister Programme, Widya Dharma University Klaten, 2015. The backgrounds of this action research are (1) the lack of students’ marks on the material of writing a conversation text ,and (2) students tend to be pasive and not confident to follow the lesson. The purpose of this research are (1) to describe the application of pictures media and role playing method to increase the writing skill of conversation text in the sixth grade of SD Negeri 1 Kuwu, Kradenan, district of Grobogan at the first semester, 2015/2016, and (2) to describe the increasing of students’ activities in the learning process. This research is a classroom action research that consists of cycle I and cycle II, each cycle is consisted by planning, action, observing, and reflecting.This action reserach has the subject of one teacher and 22 students of the sixth grade of State elementary school 1 Kuwu Kradenan Grobogan district. The techniques of collecting data in this research are observation, interview, and the results of students’ works on material of conversation text.. Analysis of this research is accomplished, both quantitative and qualitative. The validity of the data in this research is data triangulation. This action research discusses on the analysis of teacher while doing the learning process, learning materials, teaching methods, students while following learning process, and the results of students’ conversation text. The minimum completeness criteria of Bahasa Indonesia specified in KTSP SD Negeri 1 Kuwu in the year 2015/2016 is gradually 75. Those criteria can be achieved by the students. It is indicated by the results of students’ written test in pre-cycle, cycle 1, and cycle 2 obtaining a percentage score of 50% (11 students completed of 22 students), 72,7% (16 students completed of 22 students) and 90,09% (20 students completed of 22 students). The implementation of pictures media and role playing method are able to improve the writing skill of conversation text in the sixth grade of SD Negeri 1 Kuwu, Kradenan, district of Grobogan at the first semester, 2015/2016, and to improve the students’ activities in the learning process.
