Abstract
YOGA PRASETYA UTAMA, STUDENT NO. 1611200014, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Dharma University, Klaten, 2021. Undergraduate Thesis: A Descriptive Study of the Students Mastery on Reading Comprehension of the Eleventh Year Students of SMA Negeri 1 Ceper in Academic Year 2020/2021. This study is mainly aim at describing the students’ mastery on reading comprehension of the eleventh year students of SMA Negeri 1 Ceper in academic year of 2020/2021. The writer takes the eleventh year students of SMA Negeri 1 Ceper in academic year of 2020/2021 as population, the number of populations of eleven year students are 236. It divided in to seven class, there are XI IPA 1 = 36, XI IPA 2 = 36, XI IPA 3 = 36, XI IPA 4 = 31, XI IPS 1 = 32, XI IPS 2 = 33, and XI IPS 3 = 32. Therefore, the writer takes sample from two class XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 the total are 72 students. unfortunately, the student had submitted an instrument test are 50. The writer used proportionate random sampling for getting the sample. In collecting the data, the writer gives an instrument test that consist of 20 question items in the form of multiple choices. In order to analyzing a data, the research uses the statistical method. It is intended to know the students’ mastery of the test on the variable. After analyzing the data, the writer can find that the students, 4 students who achieved very good mark its percentages are 8%, 24 students who achieved good mark its percentages are 48%, 19 students who achieved fair mark its percentages are 38%, 3 students who achieved poor mark its percentages are 6%, and there is not student who achieved fail mark. The total mark of the students’ mastery is 3495 for 50 students so that mean of the students’ mark is 69,9 which is classified into good category. So, it can conclude that the reading comprehension mastery of class XI students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Ceper for the 2020/2021 academic year is good.
