Abstract
FitiraKusumawati.Student number: 1781100003.Improving the Skill of Writing Anecdote Text by Problem Based Teaching and Learning Model to the Multimedia I Tenth Year Students of State Vocational High School I ROTA Bayat in Academic Year 2018/2019. Thesis.Language Education Study Program, Graduate Program, Widya Dharma University, Klaten, 2019. This research aims to: 1)describe the activities of the Multimedia I Tenth Year Students of State Vocational High School I ROTA Bayat in Academic Year 2018/2019 in following the teaching and learning of writing anecdote text by problem based method; 2) describe the improvement of the ability of anecdote text writing skill after problem based teaching and learning was applied tothe Multimedia I Tenth Year Students of State Vocational High School I ROTA Bayat in Academic Year 2018/2019. This research was done in State Vocational High School I ROTA Bayat in Academic Year 2018/2019. The kind of research is classroom action research which was done in two research cycles. The subject of this research was the Multimedia I Tenth Year Students with the total number of 36 students, whereas the object of research was the application of problem based teaching and learning method toimprovethe skill of writing anecdote text. The techniques of collecting data include observation, test, interview, and documentation. Analyzing research data was done by analyzing the observationdata of students’ activities and students’ learning results. Based on the results of data analysis, itwas found: 1)Therewas an improvement of students’ activities in the process of teaching and learning writing anecdote by problem based method. The improvement occuredfrom pre-cycle stage to the second cycle stage. The students’ enthusiasm increased 42%, attention to the teacher increased 11%, activeness in teaching and learning increased 45% and discussion in group increased 48%; 2) The skill in writing anecdote text increased after problem based teaching and learning method was applied. In pre-cycle stage, before problem based teaching and learning method was applied in the teaching and learning of writing anecdote text, out of 36 students the number of students who had completed the minimum achievement criteria was 11 students or 31% with the average score of 65. After the problem based method was applied, the students who had completed the minimum achievement criteria were 20 students or 55% with the average score of 72. In cycle II there were 28 students or 77% who had completed the minimum achievement criteria with the average score of 80.
