Abstract

HARJANTA. NIM : 1681100052. Language Education Study Program, Graduate Program. Widya Dharma University Klaten, 2019. Thesis : Teaching and Learning to Write Official Letters (A Case Study on the Fifth Grade Students SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018. One of the various skills of the students writing in Elementary School is to write official letters. However, students writing skills are still lacking and often become a problem to date. This study focused on the problem of the teaching and learning to write official letters in the fifth grade students elementary school. The formultion of the problem in this study are: (1) How is the implementation of learning to write official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018? (2) Why does the teaching and learning to write official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018 occur as it being observed? (3) What are the obstacles in teaching and learning to write official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018? The purposes of this study are: (1) To describe the implementation of teaching and learning to write official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018, (2) To find out the causes of writing official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018 took place as when the researcher made observations, (3) To describe the difficulties in teaching and learning to wrtite official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018. The method used in this research is qualitative research methods and the data sources used in this study are teaching and learning activities in writing official letters, informants from teachers and students, and document sources. The technique of collecting the data are observation, interview and note taking. Based on the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that : (1) Implementation of teaching and learning to write official letters to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018 school year related to teacher, student activities, material selection, methods, media, and evaluation is as follows : (a) The teacher makes syllabus, promissory notes, and RPP, (b) The teacher at the beginning of the lesson informs the Indonesian language subject, (c) The teacher does the apperception, (d) Students enthusiastically follow the learning, (e) The teacher chooses the material according to the learning objectives, (f) Using the lecture method, question and answer, and assignment of the assignment, (g) Using the whiteboard media and sample letters, (h) The teacher carries out evaluations; (2) Causes of the implementation of teaching and learning to write official letters to fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018 took place when the researcher made observations because : (a) Syllabus, promissory notes and RPP were prepared as learning preparations, (b) Information to attract students attention, (c) Give reinforcement, (d) Student want to be able to make official letters, (e) Teachers bring students according to learning objectives, (f) Help students whose unexperience difficulties, (g) Media as a tool help, (h) Evaluation to determine the ability of students writing official letter; (3) Obstacles in the implementation of teaching and learning to write official letters to the fifth students of SD Negeri 1 Karanganom, Klaten Utara, Klaten in 2017/2018 include barriers from the teacher in the form of difficulties in making RPP especially in the design of teaching and learning activities, and compiling syllabus and determine the teaching and learning media to be used. In addition, teachers also experience difficulties in classroom management. Obstacles from students are pereparation of students who are not good and lack of interest in teaching and learning so students look noisy and seek attention.
