Abstract
NOVIE DAMAYANTI. NIM: 1412104563 THESIS: The Application of Cooperative learning Model on geography Study to increase learning achievement of eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Wedi, Klaten in Academic year 2014/2015. Based on interview and observation report, it is known that geography teachers in SMP Negeri 2 Wedi, Klaten cannot invite students to get involve directly and be active in the learning process. Therefore, in order to make the learning process looks more active and get better and more satisfy result, a technique or an approach that is able to make students active directly during the learning process is needed. One of the techniques or approaches used is the application of Cooperative learning. The problem formulation is “ Is the application of cooperative learning model on Geography subject can improve learning achievement of even semester of eigth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wedi, Klaten in Academic year 2014/2015. The Purpose of this research is to know the achievement level and geography learning activities of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wedi in Academic year 2014/2015. This research is conducted in two cycles in which each cycle consist of application, preparation, observation, and reflection. The subject of this study is class A of eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Wedi which consist of 20 students. This study used qualitative metode with class action research ( CAR). From the result of this study showed that there is improvement in students activity and learning improvement in each cycle. The average score of the learning result in cycle I and cycle II are 15.5 and 15.95, whether average activities cycle I is 2.88 which is categorised into fairly active and cycle II is 3.07 which is categorised active and learning accomplishment in each cycle are 85 and 90 percents. Based on the result that the learning improvement and students learning activities can be achieved therefore it can be concluded that through the appication of cooperative learning model it is proved that there is improvement in students’ learning and activities.
