Abstract
MISTIAFIFAH. 1012104432. TO BENEFIT OF GEOGRAPHYC INFORMATION SYSTEM TO SUITABILITY OF SETTLEMENT AREA IN THE REGENCY AREA OF KLATEN (CASE STUDY IN THE SUBDISTRICT OF GANTIWARNO, WEDI, BAYAT AND CAWAS). Geography Education Study program, Social Study Education Department, Teacher Training and Education faculty, Widya Dharma University of Klaten. The purpose of this research are 1) To understand the suitability of the area for settlement in the research area, 2) To understand the spread level of area suitability to new settlement in the research area, 3) To understand the suitability level of settlement location which there’s been in the research area. This research is quantitative research that analysis used SIG technique. The variable that used are area declivity, kinds of land, drainage, employing the area, the distance to the main road, and the distance to the activity of central economy. This research is population research. The researched population is the region partly of Klaten regency, there are subdistricts of Gantiwarno, Wedi, Bayat and Cawas. The data collection using observation and documentation technique. The technique of the tabulation and analysis of data using quantitative analysis and SIG technique with buffering and overlay. The result of the research are : 1) Subdistrict of Gantiwarno, Wedi, Bayat and Cawas has four compatibility area classes, there are S1 classes (very appropriate), S2 classes ( appropriate), S3 classes ( appropriate with the marginal), and N (not appropriate). 2) The area which potential to the settlement are S1 (very appropriate) about 3,296631478 Ha of wide and S2 (appropriate) about 114,6172231 Ha of wide. 3) For the S1 classes (very appropriate) located in Gantiwarno subdsitrict about 4,7917 Ha of wide, Wedi subdistrict about 7,6939 Ha of wide, Bayat subdistrict about 13,782 Ha of wide, Cawas subdistrict about 0,7584 Ha of wide; for the S2 classes (appropriate) located in Gantiwarno subdistrict about 38,2707 Ha of wide, Wedi subdistrict about 39,4081 Ha of wide , Bayat subdistrict about 18,6621 Ha of wide, and Cawas subdistrict about 34,6993 Ha of wide; for the S3 classes (appropriate with the marginal) located in Gantiwarno subdistrict about 11,2916 Ha of wide, Wedi subdistrict about 5,92821 Ha of wide, Bayat subdistrict about 46,1487 Ha of wide, and Cawas subdistrict about 23,6274 Ha of wide; and for N classes (non appropriate) located in Gantiwarno subdistrict about 0,05400584 Ha of wide, Wedi subdistrict about 0,04319327 Ha of wide, Bayat subdistrict about 4,852673 Ha of wide, and Cawas subdistrict about 0,00025481 Ha of wide.
