Abstract

"Improving the Ability of Writing Exposition Text Using Project Based Learning Models (Classroom Action Research on Students of Class X TKR A of SMK Negeri 1 Tulung) 2016/2017 School Year". Thesis. Language Education Study Program, Graduate Program, University of Widya Dharma Klaten 2018. The formulation of the problem in this study are (1) How is the work step of implementing a project-based learning model in improving exposition text writing skills for students of class X TKR A SMK Negeri 1 Tulung 2016/2017 Academic Year? (2) How is the increase in the ability to write exposition text of students in class X TKR A of SMK Negeri 1 Tulung 2016/2017 Academic Year with the application of a project-based learning model? The research objectives in this study were (1) Describe the work steps of implementing a project-based learning model in improving exposition text writing skills for students of class X TKR A SMK Negeri 1 Tulung 2016/2017 Academic Year, (2) Describe the improvement of exposition text writing skills in students of class X TKR A SMK Negeri 1 Tulung with the application of a project-based learning model. This Class Action Research was carried out in class X TKR A of SMK Negeri 1 Tulung in 36 male students. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles on an ongoing basis. Each cycle is carried out by planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting to find out the effectiveness of the action. Based on the analysis it can be concluded as follows: First, the implementation of exposition text writing learning using project-based learning models for students of class X TKR A of SMK Negeri 1 Tulung can increase the enthusiasm of students to take lessons because learning becomes more enjoyable. Based on the results of observation, the percentage of completeness test results of exposition text writing skills aspects of content in Cycle I was 94.4% and in Cycle II increased to 100%, organizational aspects of Cycle I 58.33% and increased in Cycle II to 97.22%, the vocabulary aspect of Cycle I was 55.67% and Cycle II increased to 91.67%, the aspect of Cycle I language use was 27.78% and Cycle II increased to 86.11%, and the mechanical aspect of Cycle I was 63.89% in Cycle II increased to 83.33%. Secondly, the increase of the average grade in writing exposition text in Cycle I learning was 74.28 and 81.03 in Cycle II learning. The percentage increase in classical learning completeness in Cycle I learning was 83.33% and in cycle II learning it became 100%. Thus through the project-based learning model the ability to write exposition text of students in class X TKR A of SMK 1 Tulung can increase.
